Like weaving, knitting is a technique for producing a two-dimensional fabric from a one-dimensional yarn or thread. Posted here are some easy knitting instructions for beginners.
All you need to start knitting are knitting needles, yarn and good patterns or instructions. Often the better yarns are provided with a range of knitting patterns leaflets. The number of rows should be counted when the carrier goes around the cylinder, while knitting.
Each pattern requires that you knit a certain number of stitches using a particular yarn and a specified needle. It is also best to use the basic knitting stitches, just knit and purl until you are use to knitting. Flat knitting, on the other hand, is used, in its most basic form, to make flat, rectangular pieces of cloth.
Smooth, highly spun yarns are best for showing off stitch patterns; at the other extreme, very fuzzy yarns or eyelash yarns have poor stitch definition, and any complicated stitch pattern would be invisible. Cable needles are a special case of dpns, although they usually are not straight, but dimpled in the middle.
